The documentary is an essay on the meaning and status of the Venitian ghetto today, through a sery of portraits of some of its most important personalities, in terms of activity and creation, such as some famous writers and protagonists of the jewish Venitian life. One of them, a well known author on those issues, will be the “key” to the life of the ghetto today, allowing us to enter the various aspects of the place, through some encounters relating the past and memory of the ghetto, but also its present life, and meaning. And its most significant areas – museums, houses and synagogues, cemetery , etc Historical land marks of jewish life in Venice. What does the Ghetto mean today ? For the jewish Venitians, the Venitians and the rest of the world ? Why did the Habad group from the United States reintegrated the ghetto? More then a “commemorative” essay, the documentary will emphasise the specificity of the Venitian ghetto as a place of inclusion, or presence of a jewish population, in a setting which offers today a possibility of reflexion on the process of exclusion .
